As Padmasree Warrior (CEO of NEXTEV) says: "Start with a vision to spark a global movement: think beyond just a product, or a wow experience or even the company"
With this in mind, I try to draw my vision of re-design mobility solutions in an holistic way, thinking about vehicules or cities as another device or platform to be designed with an strong user-first approach. This vision are based in this 5 pilars/strategies:
- Clean Energy Lobby
- Smart Cities
- Cross platform/device strategy
- Journey & context vision
- Research & design process
Smart Cities Re-think the city like another device with a different interfaces and users: Re-charge stations everywhere: allow clients to use EV everywhere. Different clients & moments: We could create electrical bikes for fun or short routes, also create cars for "shared mobility" but with personal space, wifi and smart routes setup (maybe with an alliance with companies like Uber) and finally personal cars for weekends, travel or long routes. The idea is to create a new ecosystem of electrical vehicles for all kind of users, moments and contexts.
Cross platform/device strategy A new brand "NEXTEV Design System" designed in order to cover all kind of devices, platforms and screens: Daily companion: Smart TV, Smart Glass Mirror and another "internet of things" devices, allow us to enter in their homes. The first interaction will be in your phone, review in your Smart TV, change in the mirror of your bathroom, after that, your watch informs that you need to go out earlier because a traffic density or your transfer is ready to go. Does not matter if our client is inside our car or inside his home, we need to be present everywhere and every time. Augmented reality: in the near future, devices like "Smart Glasess", "Smart Helmets" and "Smart Windscreen" will be the baseline. Besides to create an amazing inmersive augmented reality to our vehicles, we could design another devices or create applications for existing ones in order to bring a consistent experience to our ecosystem.
Journey & context vision With the proper research and design process, we can create specific journeys for several clusters of clients and discover the most valuables products and services linked to this clusters: - Creating reseach data driven "personas" (with focus on cultural and regional specifications) - Mapping all the touchpoints of every possible journey - Keeping in mind all the users in the interaction, not only the drivers (childrens, family, co-pilots, etc...) - Thinking about all the ways of life existing and focus in the most valuable for our products and services
Research & design process I think that we can take advantage if we innovate in the design process: Virtual Reality: using Virtual Reality models to testing and get feedback very quick about vehicles configuration, interaction with interfaces, etc... The last research methodologies: Kano Model, with this method we could understand better what is our Minimum Valuable Product and the next steps and features to implemented. Besides that, we can measure the differeces between clients cluster and markets. Co-creation and Agile/Lean methodologies: we could design better inceptions with a real user-first approach. I have been working with "Paulo Caroli" which working on lean inceptions for ten years and I am collaborating with him to improve his process to bring the final user to the design sessions. Multi cultural and glocal: global and local research and testing, we have to focus on cultural and market differences, in order to create specific design strategies.
